Cherry jam - recipe (including photos)

Ingredients:
  • 450 grams of cherries (weighted after the cheery stone has been removed)
  • 200 grams of sugar
  • the juice from half of a lemon

Mix the cherries with the sugar and the lemon juice. Let them rest in the fridge for the night.

Pour the composition in a pan and let it boil at slow fire mixing from time to time, for a bit more then 1 hour.

This is how it looks like half way ...

Pour the hot jam in jars and store them in a cold place...if you can stay away from it :).

It´s delicious with pancakes!

Trip to Fribourg, Switzerland - part 1

A very nice town, with a well preserved (upper and lower) centre.

Reminded us a lot of Luxembourg (like the two towns were twins).

Raspberry jam - recipe (including photos)

Ingredients:
  • 300 grams of raspberry
  • 300 grams of sugar
  • 1 lemon

Put the raspberry in a bowl and kepp them in cold water for a few seconds (for a brief wash). Then in an empty bowl add a layer of raspberry and a layer of sugar, then another layer of fruits and one of sugar. Continue until you have put all the fruits and sugar.

Cover the bowl and put it in the fridge for a few hours or ... until next day :).

Pour the raspberry/sugar in a pot, add the juice of a lemon and let everything boil at slow fire for 25-30 minutes.

Pour the hot jam in the jars and turn the jars upside down until they cool off.

Trip to Zülpich , Germany

We were tricked into taking a detour by some photos we found online.

Do not make the same mistake - there´s pretty much nothing to see or do, except for a museum of Roman baths.

Hotel review - Park Inn by Radisson Zurich Airport , Zurich, Switzerland

The room has a certain budget feel, mainly due to the fact that the sink and the shower cabin are virtually in the room (they are not separated by any wall / door).

The breakfast had also some hot items.

There is free Wi-Fi.

Parking costs 20 CHF/day.

Basic sponge cake - recipe (including photos)

This is the simplest recipe for a tasty sponge cake.

Ingredients:
  • 200 grams of sugar
  • 150 grams of flour
  • 5 eggs
  • 5 spoons with sunflower oil
  • 4 spoons with cocoa powder
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • salt

Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites.
Beat the egg whites with the sugar and, separately, the egg yolks with the vanilla sugar and the sunflower oil.

Add the egg yolks over the whipped egg whites and mix.

Add the flour and mix slowly.

Divide the composition in two parts. Mix half of the composition with the cocoa powder.

In the middle of a pan add a spoon with the white composition, then in the middle of this add a spoon with black composition. Continue like this until you finish both compositions.

Put the mixture in the oven at 180 Celsius degrees for 35-45 minutes or until ready.

Enjoy!

Trip to Zug, Switzerland

Very small old town center, just on the shores of the eponymous lake.
